Health & Wellbeing Lead School

Crown Hills Community College is the Health & Wellbeing Lead School for Leicester, Leicestershire & Rutland

Crown Hills Community College is one of only 50 schools in England to be selected as a Lead School for Health and Wellbeing by the Youth Sport Trust.  Through this programme we join a national network of schools, all working towards enhancing the health and wellbeing of young people across the country.

Working with the charity, Youth Sports Trust (YST), Crown Hills will be playing an active part in developing school provisions aimed at:

  • Tackling the declining mental health in children and young people
  • Providing targeted support for enhancing wellbeing in male students
  • Reducing inactivity and improving physical, mental, and social health
  • Developing a whole-school health and wellbeing culture, through PE and sport

Through the programme Crown Hills has developed leading approaches to programmes including:

Boys Move: an intervention programme for secondary aged boys who have been identified as having low confidence/self-esteem and/or negative behaviours within school and need support around emotional understanding/control and stress management.

Active in Mind: a Mental Health intervention in partnership with the Youth Sport Trust aimed at secondary aged children.

Me in Mind: an emotional literacy intervention programme for key stage 1 and 2 pupil premium or vulnerable children.

Move for Fun: a free in-school club to support inactive and disadvantaged students who may have struggled to settle, have some issues around engaging with PE and sport and need some support to enjoy activity and movement within school.
